Getting back into the water for the winter swells in NZ. Raglan was pumping on Monday but the calm between sets was serene. Looking forward to a new series of water shots over the next few months.
The last time I was in Australia I had a backpack, a surfboard and unlimited free time. A few key images stuck with me through my travels and the pool at Bondi was one of them. I took advantage of a stop over and stayed a few days to get the shot I had remembered in my minds eye. A tilt shift lens, slight overcast and a little time. The stars aligned.
A few great shoots in Vancouver with the lululemon crew.
We have just completed the installation of fine art images in the Shangri-la Toronto hotel's bosk restaurant and selected suites. A continuation of the series of trees shot across Canada.
After one month in New Zealand we are settled and looking forward to the next 11 months. Work has started on a few projects but the main concepts will be coming into focus over the next month. Looking forward to great place, people and ideas. Feel free to be in touch with any experiences or suggestions - email@example.com.
XBox One is set to launch in Vancouver shortly and we were behind the scenes as they set up. We shot a time lapse sequence and images for press/media and PR - The Globe and Mail featured an article with our image. Looking forward to the reveal.
Easing into fall means waves in the Pacific North West. We took advantage of the crisp cool weather and the fall swell to shoot/film a lululemon surf and yoga trip to the remote surf tree houses of Tatchu Adventures. Stephanie Wrightman, Cydney Gurvich and Laura Noges, 3 talented female surfers from Tofino and Vancouver area, came along to experience all the remote Nootka Island location had to offer. Yoga, surf, campfires, instruments, good food, hikes, spectacular imagery, bears, wolves, eagles, salmon, wild chanterelle mushrooms, sunshine and good friends made the trip epic. Run by pro surfer Raph Bruhwiler, there are 2 tree houses, a main lodge, wood burning sauna and hot outdoor showers. We shot from the water, reefs, boats, tree tops, ladders and waterfalls - Take a look at a few images and look forward to a video update this winter.
A great trip to Nootka area on the west coast. A week of fishing, surfing, SUP and kite surfing to get back to basics. Shot the new Westcomb lifestyle images and a few fishing images. Back in the studio and miles away.
This month we were shooting the fall 2013 line for Westcomb in studio and select lifestyle images. Everything is made in Canada and the quality shows - the fall line was inspiring. Looking forward to hitting the slopes this winter and challenging the elements. Check the gear out at www.westcomb.com.
Wrapped a great 2 weeks with the lululemon team shooting the fall 2013 women's line. The collaboration was solid as the producer, AD, stylist, brand manager and videographer kept everything fun but engaged. The outcome is a diverse selection of images that reflects the strength of the women, the clothes and the lulu culture.
A great shoot with lululemon Victoria - athletes, friends and good weather aligned. A rare June south island swell finished the weekend with a good surf and fun waves.
Working on "freight" we have returned to Antigua to shoot seascapes, freighters and wrecks in the clear water. The beaches, 365 - a beach per day for a year - are beautiful and the water surreal and, when combined with the dramatic cloud that march across the sea, the images from this Caribbean island are spectacular. Looking forward to another week of exploration.
Spent a little time in NYC scouting a few locations. Staying in Spanish Harlem and walking the streets inspires countless street-scapes, urban images, gospel, gritty images and the Riverside greenbelt on the Hudson for run and lifestyle images. Will be heading back shortly for a few shoots, left feeling inspired.
Had the opportunity to take a few new shots for the fine art "freight" project here in Vancouver. We rented a boat, got my father to drive, had my 3.5 yr old nephew Jackson as first mate and we jumped in the water with a housing. The goal was to gain a unique perspective on something that is seen daily here in Vancouver and break it down into simple forms, lines and patterns to expose an industrial beauty that gets lost in these lumbering giants. We are currently working on a gallery show for the images and have developed an interesting way to display the images. Will keep posting updates the closer we are to getting the body of work complete.
Collaborating with a few great designers, creative directors and the charity based not for profit St James group we are working on a rebranding campaign for the hospice, care and low income residences in the lower east side.
